2. Overview

CalWidget ("the App") is a resizable Android home screen widget that displays events from the calendars on your device. We take the protection of your personal data seriously and process it in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR/DSGVO), the ePrivacy Directive, and applicable national data protection laws.

The App does not transmit any of your data to us or to any third party. All processing happens locally on your device.

3. Data We Process

3.1 Calendar Data (Local Access Only)

The App reads events and calendar metadata from the Android Calendar Provider in order to render them in the widget on your home screen. With your permission, the following data is accessed:

• The list of calendars present on your device (display name, account name, account type, color, visibility)
• Events within the configured look-ahead period (event title, location, start/end time, all-day flag, color, calendar association)

Purpose: Displaying your upcoming events on the home screen widget.
Legal basis: Your consent to the Android calendar permission (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).
Transmission: None. Calendar data is read on demand, used to render the widget, and never sent off the device.
Retention: Calendar data is not stored by the App. It is re-read from the Android Calendar Provider on each refresh.
Withdrawal: You may revoke the calendar permission at any time in your device's system settings. Without the permission the widget cannot display events.

3.2 Widget Settings (Stored Locally on Your Device)

The App stores your widget configuration exclusively on your device, in the App's private storage area (Android SharedPreferences). This data is never transmitted to us or any third party:

• Per-widget appearance settings (text size, colors, background color and transparency, color modes, indentation)
• Per-widget format settings (date format, time format, current-date format and alignment, location size, end-time visibility, full all-day event display, empty-day display)
• Per-widget content settings (selected calendars, location visibility, per-calendar event/location colors)
• Global App settings (look-ahead amount and unit, refresh interval, last selected configuration tab)
• A flag indicating whether settings from the legacy CalWidget version have already been imported

Purpose: Remembering your widget configuration between launches and across reboots.
Legal basis: Necessary for the App to function (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). No personal data leaves your device, so no separate consent is required.
Retention: Until you delete a widget, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App.

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not transmit your calendar events, calendar names, or any other calendar content off the device.
• We do not use any analytics service (no Google Analytics, no Firebase Analytics, no third-party tracking).
• We do not use any crash reporting service (no Firebase Crashlytics, no Sentry, no equivalent).
• We do not use advertising IDs or serve ads.
• We do not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions and do not process any payment data.
• We do not create user accounts or user profiles.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

5. Permissions Used by the App

• Calendar (READ_CALENDAR): Required to read your events and calendars for display in the widget. See Section 3.1.

6. External Links

The App contains an optional Donate button that opens PayPal (https://paypal.me/eggnstone) in your browser or PayPal app. If you choose to use it, your interaction with PayPal is governed by PayPal's privacy policy; we do not receive any personal data from PayPal beyond the donation amount.

7. Your Rights Under GDPR

Because the App does not transmit personal data to us, we typically do not hold any personal data about you. Nevertheless, you have the right to:

• Access (Art. 15 GDPR) — request confirmation of any personal data we hold about you
• Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) — correct inaccurate data
• Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict processing (Art. 18 GDPR) — limit how we process your data
• Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Object (Art. 21 GDPR) — object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdraw consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR) — withdraw consent at any time without affecting lawfulness of prior processing
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (Art. 77 GDPR)

8. Data Security

• All settings are stored in the App's sandboxed private storage, protected by your device's operating system.
• The App makes no network requests of its own; calendar data never leaves your device.
• We limit data access to what is strictly necessary to render the widget.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
